Enrichment Programs - Fine Arts

Library / Media

Our School library offers a wide array of titles from which to choose. Our librarian teaches library and research skills as well as introducing students to quality literature, and oversees the Accelerated Reader Program and "Reading Buddies." Book Fairs are held twice a year.

Physical Education

The physical education program is a combination of free play and directed play. Through large and small group games and team activities, students have the opportunity to learn skills appropriate for their age.

Visual Arts

Starting in Preschool, students are encouraged to think critically and learn to follow the design process from concepts to final implementation using materials such as: charcoal, pastel, acrylic paint, ceramics and more.

Music

The Good Shepheard music program helps all children learn music in developmentally appropriate ways through singing, playing instruments and reading music. Parents will get to see their children perform in functions through-out the year.

Technology Lab

The technology lab is equipped with state-of-the-art computers. Technology is incorporated into the daily curriculum with SMARTboards, wireless internet access and overheads in every classroom.

Spanish

Good Shepherd students begin to get familiar with Spanish starting in Preschool and continue the exploration of Spanish and cultures around the world through 5th grade.

Science Fair

The annual Science Fair is held in the spring. All students in 3rd through 5th grade participate with individual projects. Preschool through 2nd grade submit a class-wide project.

Field Trips

Field trips to interesting and educational places are taken regularly, and may include visits to museums, concerts, plays, and environmental areas. In house field trips are selected to supplement both the core curriculum as well as the fine arts. The fourth grade class takes an annual trip to St. Augustine, and our fifth grade takes an annual trip to Washington, DC in conjunction with their social studies

Other Annual Events

Other annual events we look forward to include: Pancake Races, Snow Day, Ice Cream Social, VIP Day, Thanksgiving Day Feast, Visit from Santa, Art & Music Show, Halloween Parade, Field Day and the Christmas Program.
